Michael Wright

Michael Wright is a Legal Advisor to the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative on business and human rights and Fellow at Harvard University's Center for Business and Government. He led the initial development of the Special Representative's global open-source initiative on non-judicial grievance mechanisms, which aims to advance access to and improvement of mechanisms that can handle grievances between business and its external stakeholders. In addition, he also conducted and published two studies for the Special Representative on corporate adherence to international human rights and environmental standards.

Mr. Wright has also worked with the UN Global Compact and held consulting appointments with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Genocide Intervention Network, where he advised on efforts to minimize corporate contribution to human rights and environmental harms in conflict regions. He holds a BA magna cum laud in Social Work/Business from University of Maryland and a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University.
